No matter what.
We handle your matter.
Tell us what happened, in your own words. We match you with a vetted attorney who does exactly that kind of work, and when the case needs proof, our registered investigators go and find it.
Every kind of legal trouble, one front door.
Most people do not know what kind of lawyer they need, and that is the point at which they give up. Choose the thing that sounds closest to your situation. We work out the rest.
Four short steps, then a human being.
The form asks you the least it can. Everything after that happens on our side, not yours.
You tell us what happened
Four screens, about ninety seconds. Plain questions, no legal words. If your signal drops, the form remembers where you were.
We read it and triage it
A person reads every submission. We work out what kind of matter it really is, whether it is urgent, and whether a deadline is already running against you.
We match one firm
We send it to a single attorney on our panel who does that work in your province, with capacity to take it this week. Not a bidding list.
They contact you, and we check that they did
The attorney contacts you on the channel you chose. We follow up to confirm it happened. If a firm goes quiet on our clients, it comes off the panel. That is the whole basis of the promise, and it is the part most referral sites never police.
What we ask you for
- The kind of problem, in one tap.
- A mobile number, so a dropped session is not a dead end.
- Your province, and how urgent it is.
- A short description, only if you want to give one.
- How you would rather be contacted: WhatsApp, a call, or email.
We do not ask for your ID number, your bank details or a copy of anything, and we never will on this form.
Cases are won on evidence, not on argument.
Most legal problems stall in the same place: everybody knows what happened, nobody can prove it. Our investigations desk is registered with PSIRA and works to the rules of evidence, so what we gather can actually be used.
- Tracing. Absconded debtors, missing respondents, witnesses, beneficiaries of an estate.
- Asset and lifestyle enquiries. Hidden assets in a divorce, undisclosed income in a maintenance fight, assets behind a judgment you cannot enforce.
- Workplace investigations. Misconduct, theft and shrinkage, conflicts of interest, evidence that survives a CCMA arbitration.
- Due diligence and vetting. Counterparties, directors, suppliers, candidates before you hire them.
- Claims investigation. Insurers and self insured businesses testing a claim before it is paid.
What we will not do
Unlawfully obtained evidence gets excluded, and it can put your whole case at risk. So this part is not negotiable.
- No intercepting calls, messages or email. RICA makes that a criminal offence, and it taints the file.
- No tracking devices on a vehicle we have no right to touch.
- No entrapment. The PSIRA code of conduct prohibits it, and arbitrators throw it out.
- No buying personal information from someone who had no right to sell it. POPIA applies to us too.
The problem is not a shortage of lawyers.
South Africa has tens of thousands of attorneys and hundreds of thousands of people who never reach one. The gap is not supply. It is that nobody knows where to start, and the people who need help most are the least able to pay for a first consultation to find out.
Figures are published third party statistics about the South African market, quoted with their year and source. They describe the size of the problem, not the performance of this business.
Matters that match what you actually do.
Nearly 7,000 sole practitioners in South Africa have no marketing budget and no intake desk. We are not another directory listing. We read the matter first, then send it to one firm.
- Triaged by a person before it reaches you, with the facts already gathered.
- Filtered to your practice areas, your province and your capacity this week.
- Sent to you alone, so you are not racing five other firms to the phone.
- Investigation capacity on tap when a file needs evidence rather than argument.
- A subscription structure built to sit inside the Legal Practice Council rules on referral and fee sharing, confirmed in writing by our own counsel.
The compliance position, stated plainly
Because a lot of lead businesses are cheerfully vague about this, and attorneys are right to ask.
- We do not take a share of your fee, and we do not take a cut of any award or settlement.
- We do not pay anyone for introducing work to us.
- Panel membership is a flat subscription for marketing and intake services, invoiced monthly, unrelated to outcome.
- The client chooses the attorney and can walk away at any point. We never hold a mandate.
Straight answers.
Being matched is free. You pay the attorney for the work you agree to do, and they must give you a written estimate or fee arrangement before starting. Some kinds of work, road accident claims in particular, are usually taken on contingency, where the attorney is paid out of what you recover and the fee is capped by the Contingency Fees Act. Ask for the fee terms in writing at the first meeting, every time, with any attorney, including ours.
No. Matter is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. We are the front door: we read your problem, work out what kind of matter it is, and connect you to an attorney admitted with the Legal Practice Council who does that work. The attorney client relationship is between you and that firm. Our investigations arm is a separate PSIRA registered business.
Our intake team, and then the one attorney we match you with. Nobody else. We do not sell your details to a list, we do not send them to multiple firms to bid, and under POPIA we can only contact you on the channel you consented to. You can withdraw that consent at any time and we will delete your record. The consent wording is shown to you in full on the last step of the form, before you submit anything.
You get an automatic acknowledgement immediately, on the channel you chose. A person from our intake team replies within the same working day. The matched attorney contacts you after that, usually within one working day, and we follow up to confirm that they did. If nobody has reached you, message us on WhatsApp and we will escalate it the same day.
Say so on the second step of the form, where we ask how urgent it is, and it goes to the top of the queue. If you are in custody, facing an eviction this week, or a deadline runs out in the next few days, use WhatsApp rather than the form. Deadlines in South African law are unforgiving: prescription on most civil claims runs three years, an RAF claim has its own periods, and a CCMA unfair dismissal referral is due within thirty days of the dismissal.
Sometimes, and if not, we will tell you where to go instead rather than waste your time. Legal Aid South Africa covers criminal matters broadly and some civil work if you fall under their means test. University law clinics, the Legal Resources Centre, ProBono.Org and the CCMA itself, which is designed to work without a lawyer, all cover ground that private attorneys do not. We would rather point you correctly than pretend.
We check that they are admitted and in good standing with the Legal Practice Council, that they hold a valid Fidelity Fund certificate, that they genuinely practise in the areas they claim, and that they have capacity. We track whether they contact our clients and how quickly. Firms that go quiet come off the panel. That is the only enforcement that matters, and it is the reason the promise on this page is worth anything.
If it is gathered lawfully, generally yes, and it is often decisive. If it is not, a court can exclude it and the attempt can damage your case and expose you personally. Intercepting somebody else's calls or messages is a criminal offence under RICA. Planting a tracker on a vehicle you have no right to touch, entrapment, and buying personal data from someone with no right to sell it are all off the table. We work inside those lines and we say no to work that does not.
Whatever the matter, start here.
